RCMB: Tomorrow’s guest speaker

All: Below is a bio for tomorrow’s guest speaker. We hope you will join us for what is certain to be an interesting talk at Perricone’s at 7:30 a.m.

Michael Guthrie is an accomplished educator and administrator, with a career dedicated to serving students in specialized small learning environments. He moved to the Miami area from rural New York at an early age, attending grades 2-12 in Miami-Dade County Public Schools.

Mike holds a bachelor’s degree in history and education from Florida State University and a master’s degree in media production and learning technology from Nova Southeastern University.

He retired from Miami-Dade County Public Schools in 2008, after a 35-year career as a teacher and administrator. One of his proudest accomplishments was leading the School for Applied Technology, an alternative school to help at-risk students reach their full potential.

For the past four years, Mike has worked in student services at the Miami Dade College Wolfson Campus. He has held positions assisting students with disabilities and supporting student veterans, and now acts as a resource advisor for both populations. Mike’s current professional focus is on developing and implementing campus-wide awareness and activities to enhance the college experience for veterans.
