“Early learning: The wisest investment we could make.”

Dear Rotarians and Friends of Rotary,

Next Tuesday August 20 we have our breakfast meeting (7:30AM @ Perricone’s), where will have an important presentation titled: "Early learning: The wisest investment we could make."

Our Guest Speaker is David Lawrence Jr. David retired in 1999 as publisher of The Miami Herald to work in the area of early childhood development and readiness. He is president of The Early Childhood Initiative Foundation and “Education and Community Leadership Scholar” at the University of Miami’s School of Education and Human Development. He leads The Children’s Movement of Florida, aimed at making children the state’s top priority for investment and decision-making. He is a member of the Governor’s Children’s Cabinet and twice chaired the Florida Partnership for School Readiness. In 2002 and 2008 he led successful campaigns for The Children’s Trust, a dedicated source of early intervention and prevention funding for children in Miami-Dade. He is the “founding chair.” He is a board member of the Foundation for Child Development in New York.

Tomorrow’s Meeting: A Path to Mental Health Recovery…

RCMB Happy Hour Meeting, Tuesday, August 13th, Chop House, 6 p.m. View this email in your browser
Dear Rotarians and Guests,

Next Tuesday August 13 we have our happy hour meeting at the Chop House, where we will be honored by Guest Speakers: Amy McClellan & Ivan Abrams.

Their speech title is: Key Clubhouse: A Path to Mental Health Recovery

Amy McClellan is the co-founder and Board President of The Key Clubhouse of South Florida. As the parent of two daughters who experienced the onset of serious mental illnesses as teenagers (bipolar disorder and major depression), she became aware of the struggles that families face when dealing with the devastating impact of mental illness on their loved ones.

Prior to opening his own criminal defense practice, Ivan worked as an Assistant State Attorney in Miami-Dade County for 4 years. During his years as a prosecutor, Ivan tried over 40 jury trials, 100 bench trials, and 100 constitutional motions to suppress. Based on his unique litigation skills, Ivan was the youngest prosecutor ever to be selected to serve in a specialized white collar crimes unit. In this unit, Ivan directed several large scale RICO and Mortgage Fraud criminal investigations.

Hope everyone attends this next meeting!

Best,

Roberto Ruvalcaba

President-Elect
